For cartridge adhesives the calculation is by bead length: one 290 ml cartridge gives about 14 metres of a 6 mm bead. Bead thickness depends on the nozzle cut, and strip spacing on the weight of the part: panels are glued in strips every 10–15 cm, skirting boards and mouldings with a single strip.
For bucket adhesives and for area-based calculations a rate in grams per square metre applies: up to 160 g/m² for construction adhesives, up to 170 g/m² for the decor adhesive and up to 200 g/m² for the adhesive filler. For the sealant one cartridge covers 14–15 metres of a 5 mm joint; for other sizes the joint volume is length × width × depth.
Allow a 10–15 % reserve for uneven substrates, offcuts and the first cartridge, which always goes faster.
